Henry Gordon-Smith, Agritecture | From a blog in a dorm room to a scaled world-class business in urban agriculture
You don’t need credentials. If you’re interested in something, dive in with your heart and soul, and see what happens. That’s what Henry Gordon-Smith did. His deep passion for urban agriculture led him to start a blog and explore ideas. Over time, he got other people interested. Companies hired him to do consulting. He loved doing it, but couldn’t keep up with the demand. So he hired other people to join him, and his company, Agritecture, was born.
They’ve achieved great success with over 100 clients. But now, Henry feels inspired to achieve greater impact. With the climate changing at warp speed, he wants to help societies adapt through climate-smart agriculture. All of the knowledge they’ve gained from 100+ clients is uploaded to a platform called Agritecture Designer. The tool helps farmers, greenhouses, and vertical farms all over the world assess their feasibility.
What’s so incredible about Henry’s work is that it aligns companies’ financial incentives of growth and efficiency with social environmental incentives. We can’t imagine a smarter way to champion sustainability.
