Sener Korkusuz was looking for a new venture to start. He and a childhood friend were mulling over ideas, and when the plan to create a new arena football league arrived, they knew they had to drop everything else and just do it. 

Football is America’s favorite sport. But, many Americans are rethinking their feelings about the game. The concussion problem is well-documented. Severe brain damage ruins athletes’ lives, in many cases, long after they’ve left the game. But, the fact remains: Americans love football. So Sener set out to create a version of football without the same risks to players. 

A7FL is a full-contact, no-pads brand of football that is still chock full of physicality but is much, much safer. Sener and the A7FL team still face many obstacles. There was a ton of initial skepticism when they started in 2014. And, like with other sports, COVID has wreaked havoc on their schedule. But through it all, Sener remains steadfast. His intuition is crystal clear that this is his destiny. He’s signed TV deals, is crowdfunding, and is excited to bring the game back once it’s safe.
